
A native of Maryland, Geraldine McKeown lives at the head of the Chesapeake
Bay in her 1855 ancestral family farmhouse. She has painted since childhood and her paintings reflect a deep sense of heritage and love of the land. She has vacationed in Maine for many years and built a summer studio on Beals Island for a personal connection to the landscapes and waterscapes she enjoys painting.
Geraldine studied art at Towson University in Maryland and is an alumni of the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia where she studied art appreciation from early art to the post impressionists.. She studied watercolor with the legendary teacher Ed Whitney at his Maine outdoor workshops where she fell in love with watercolor, the beauty of Maine and en plein air painting. She recently completed 4 years of study in oil painting in the tradition of Classical Realism.

An accomplished watercolorist, Geraldine has taught watercolor in her private studio for over 35 years. Her paintings reflect her intense interest in composition and design and the interplay of light and shadow. As a result she has been the recipient of numerous regional and national awards including the BWS Silver Medal for watercolor. She has been featured in many publications including
Artists of the Delmarva, Splash 9, Splash 12 and The Best of Watercolor 1 & 11.
She is an elected signature member of NWS, PWS, PWCS and BWS
Watercolor Societies. ( National, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Baltimore). Her paintings are included in numerous private and
